The Kahanoff Conference Centre has gone green!

The Kahanoff Conference Centre (KCC) is proud to announce that as of January 1, 2009; the facility has implemented new green practices. As an organization, we want to be environmentally responsible and improve the environmental performance of all meetings here at the KCC.

Meetings will receive ceramic plates and flatware instead of paper/ Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils.

Previously packaged coffee and tea condiments will be replaced by refillable containers and teaspoons will replace stir sticks.

Where possible, environmentally friendly cleaning and paper products will be purchased.

A paper, cardboard and bottle/can recycling program is in place.

Our new coffee supplier supports the mandate to provide environmentally friendly products and services. The coffee & tea purchased is a Fair Trade & Organic product. We joined the suppliers “Coffee Composting/ Recycling Program”. Everything we purchase can be recycled: plastic coffee packs, coffee grounds, as well as the cardboard. It's picked up, recycled, and composted in their zero waste warehouse facility.

That being said, in 2008 we served approximately 24, 500 cups of tea & coffee and provided food service for approximately 7000 people. This works out to be over 600 pounds of waste and over 1000 pounds of coffee grounds that we have eliminated from the landfill.

This is a milestone for the KCC and we hope to make our environmental foot print that much smaller.

Thank you for supporting the KCC!
